Don Glardon

This is being written by Don Glardon's wife.

I wanted to let you all know that Don passed away yesterday, apparently from natural causes. He was hiking here near Cincinnati, collapsed and was not able to be revived. He was doing a practice hike in preparation for a boy scout hike he had planned for this summer with our son's troop. The services will be sometime later this week.

He enjoyed this site so much, and met some good friends here. I know that his "motorcycle gang" as I often jokingly referred to his riding friends added a great deal to his life.

Although not for a while, I will need to eventually sell his motorcycles, both the one that he usually rides and his latest project bike. I am also not sure what else is lurking in the garage. If you are in the Cincinnati area and would be able to help me determine what to ask for the bikes and other items in the garage when the time comes, please email me at aglardon(at)cinci.rr.com. **editted to fight spambots**

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Don was a great friend to this site and added so much. He will be missed by many here.
Prayers and positives for you, your family and his many friends.
He is truly one of the good guys.

I'm looking at this post finding it hard to believe what I'm reading. My heart goes out to Don's family and all those who know him best. His departure from this life will leave a very big hole in our motorcycle gang at XS11.com. I never met Don face to face, but looked forward to the day that would happen. We shared a lot over this forum. We will miss him.

jwhughes3 04-06-2014 10:18 AM

So saddened to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Don will be truly missed.

John

so sorry to hear of Don's passing, too. I never met him, but received a lot of help on my bike through his technical know-how. Condolences and a prayer to his wife and family.

IanDMacDonald 04-06-2014 10:36 AM

Tears fell from my eyes reading this. I am terribly saddened to read this- it hurts to re-read this. My prayers and sympathies to Don's family. May he rest in Heaven with his loved one's and fellow motorcycle riders.

TopCatGr58 04-06-2014 10:41 AM

I, too, am shocked and saddened to see this. :( Don has been a great member and asset to the XS11 family and will be sorely missed. My most sincere condolences to his wife and family.

I am so shocked, stunned and saddened by this news. It's only the other day that Don responded to some of my posts and in my several years of membership here, Don has been immensely helpful, courteous and, I'm sure others will agree, a valued and respected member of this forum. I've never met anyone on this forum, including Don, but we are all familiar with each other here, united as we are with a common interest and passion.

Even as I type this, I can hardly believe that DGXSER won't be checking in and contributing in the way that he has done for years. In my mind, he was always a kind of elder statesman of the site and I often looked forward to reading his responses to people in trouble, kindness and, above all, respectful courtesy and patience with people, as well as his great knowledge about our bikes.

What a loss to us all and immeasurably more to you and your family. I would like to extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences on this awful news. For what comfort it may be to you, there is at least one person, thousands of miles away in another country who has shed tears on this terrible news.

May God bless ole DGXSER, a gentleman, and look after him.

natemoen 04-06-2014 11:32 AM

Wow! So very sorry to hear this, prayers to you and the rest of you family.

I was really looking forward to getting together with him and some of the others in his area this summer.

I am just a little shocked! Very sad!

I am just beside myself to read of this. Don was so full of life. Don helped me many times on this site and personally. We never met but I feel I lost a good friend.

Oh man....

Don was such an asset to this site, I don't know how the hole his passing leaves can be filled. Don, I never met you face to face, but I'll miss you nonetheless....

My deepest sympathies to the family...

BillyRok 04-06-2014 01:47 PM

Very sorry to hear of this, Don was too young, I will hold his family in my prayers. He was always friendly and helpful, a valuable member of this site who will be missed by many. Anytime that Don posted something here (I was looking forward to post # 10,000:))I was always interested in what he had to share, I know countless others felt the same way. May your family find comfort in knowing how many lives Don impacted, most of them people he never met, as it was a pleasure knowing him via this site. Thank you and Rest in Peace DGXSER.

Very sorry to hear. Practice hike for a boy scout trip... Says a lot about his level of commitment doesn't it?
My best to the family.

STEPPENWOLF 04-06-2014 03:50 PM

This came as a real shocker to me. He was just at the house on his bike about two weeks ago, looked good and happy. He lived life to the fullest I believe, and will be missed by myself and his family. He put on no airs and was just what you thought he was...one of the best.
Don is on the right on one of our SWOHXS(southwest ohio xs) rides in Indiana.

So sorry to hear of this. Never met face-to-face but there is a kindred spirit that always came through. Will miss his posts. Condolences to family; this is hard to take anytime but to go without any warning is particularly difficult to loved ones.

The Lorax 04-06-2014 04:28 PM

Damn! That sucks, I haven't seen Don in a couple years, I rode with him, hung out with him a little and wrenched with him on another XSive's bike. He was a top notch guy and will be sorely missed. Thoughts and prayers to his family
Ride safe

Prisoner6 04-06-2014 05:14 PM

Just saw this thread ... and as I type this, tears are running down my face.

Even though I'm one of the newer members here, I, like so many others here, looked forward to every one of Don's posts ... so knowledgeable ...

But even more important than that, Don seemed to have a great insight on life and how to deal with life trials that come our way,

and his gentleness, kindness, and respect for everyone was always there, underlying every post he made.

He seemed like the kind of man who touched people's lives, impacted their lives in a positive way.

I was so looking forward to meeting him someday, to thank him in person for all he has done for this community.

Don, you truly will be sorely missed ... my prayers and sincerest condolences go out to his wife and family.

XJOK2PLAY 04-06-2014 06:19 PM

I'm absolutely stunned to hear this.

I can't begin to say how sorry I am to hear about Don's passing.

Don was always a great source of solid advice and help.

I thought it was pretty cool how he was building another 11.

I always enjoyed our discussions here, and will certainly miss him.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

RIP, DGXSER.

So sad to hear this.I don't get on here like I used to. I always expected to see Don contributing to the various threads. I talked to him a few times via pm's and in threads quite a few times. He was a humble and helpful guy.
My condolences to Don's family.

TADracer 04-07-2014 07:55 AM

I did not know Don personally but considered him a friend all the same. You can see form the sheer number of post that he was one of the most knowledgeable on the site and what he said was usually right on.

I am so sad to hear of his passing and am at a loss for words. Please accept my sincere condolences.

STEPPENWOLF 04-12-2014 06:08 AM

Plan to TC.

The Lorax 04-12-2014 04:24 PM

I went to the visitation. I felt the need to pay my respects to my friend, but at the same time, I didn't want to intrude on his family's grieving. So, Julie and I didn't stay for the service, that and the usual 8 million things that come up every weekend had to be attended to. It was a bad scene, seeing Don that way, he was too young for that. I've been conspicuously absent from the SWOXS for too long, I'm going to make my best effort to miss as few future get together a as possible. I do miss my friends, all of you guys here at the site. I'll try to be more active here. Have a nice day and ride safe
