The one on the right with the 12MM hex is the OEM type, the left one with the 14MM hex looks like a replacement, not original. If you have a small ruler, you can determine which one lines up better...

Maybe the caliper piston is completely pushed in closing the chamber from passing the fluid from the bleeder to the line and up to the M/C. Try bleeding the conventional way and see what happens.

Yup, there's plenty of those main shaft gears around, the engine cases need to be split to access those. You will probably also need 5th gear too, it meshes with 2nd.
