Top end of motor.. cams, cam chain, shim buckets.. etc. They're kind of a noisy top end motor anyway, but some oils will make it worse.

What may be happening is you aren't getting enough juice to the switch or the blinker for it to work. The XS has a bit of a weak charging system anyway, so at idle it may not be providing enough...
