If you have new ones in hand, and the old ones are trash, just cut them off. They're hooked bottom inboard if you want to try to save them. The new ones just slide on.

It should be the same if just the coils. There was chat on XJBikes.com about using the entire XJ ignition system on an XS. It gets rid of moving parts.
