Yeah, that's the "octy". Most people bypass and discard it, as it makes it easier to run the fuel lines. It's only reason for being on the bike is to shut off the fuel when the engine is not running....

All exhaust nuts are "deformed" so they lock in place. It should ALWAYS take a wrench to install them. If not, replace the nuts because they will vibrate loose.

Yes. I was lucky in that the spring didn't hide. As it's a 1/8" ball, try and find a 1/8" spring at Ace. If not, try a ballpoint pen spring. You may be able to find one that will work.
