Vacuum Advance

It's there for a reason. Engine needs a total number degrees of timing advance. If you disengage the vacuum advance, you will retarded the timing. This can cause mechanical problems to the engine....

Mike, the Vetter trunk is fairly rare. Venturers had two options for the passenger back rest. Some of the trunks had their own back rest. With those you removed the Venturer factory one.

Hi Mike,

It's a good idea to poor fuel in the carbs while off the bike. This will make it easy to fix any leaks. Also can verify float levels with clear tubing.

Exhaust

Your 1981 XS1100 uses the Special exhaust. Try to find those. Some of the aftermarket 4 into 1 exhaust are more trouble than they are worth - have to lose center stand, can't get to oil filter.

I've changed every light on a Venturer to LED. Not a single incandescent left. Also have the Geezer reg/rec. Charging system and battery have never been happier. Volt meter while idling shows 14.2...
