well...darn the badluck.... finished my rebuild project in april of last year, took 5 fullsizeguys to get the monster back outside whereit belonged!10 minutes after he hit the ground on april10th had...

More info on this issue

Forgot to mention that when I did the rebuild, I also had new SS valves put in, which obviously means a valve job....
I noticed the NOISY valve since the first time I started the motor,
yes I know...

So, I getting ready to do the first service after my rebuild, I have at least I valve that's making a lot of noise, obviously gonna need a taller shim. Tallest I have is in, 295 IIRC, local Yamaha...

pardon the pun!

But a quick & dirty way to clean the inside of you headlight lens....
Remove it...and take the bulb out....get some small ice cubes...fill the lens about half way...pour in salt...swish...

It was the MIDDLE drive...the one that bolts to the engine...and the swingarm.

Phil...there was hand engraving on the body...and yellow paint marker on the inside

some of the bearings were showing large amounts of wear, doing this just in time I think...
also noticed a couple of odd things,
it has a different...

I had them painted....but he used a black base, with a silver/white pearl type...said something about using either saran wrap or aluminum foil to get the marbled look...he called it 'bowling ball'...

Finally, got started on my rebuild project, whew!

So, after being delayed by a number of factors, I got after it today,
It started out as a base gasket leaking badly....the reason for teardown!
But it's gonna be a rebulid, did'nt break a ring or...
