I've had good luck with the Duralast batteries. I have a regular lead acid one in my KLR that has survived 3 Wisconsin winters so far. And my wife has one of those in her NX250 going on two years....

I got 5 for $3.50 and free next day shipping. I just used the original ends and soldered the new one into them. Pretty easy.

It will only come on after the bike is running, but you can jump the relay like 3Phase said and then it will come on with the ignition. The relay is the little square box under the tank just above...

I have lifted the front wheel momentarily many times on hard launches, but one time launched into a full wheelie and it scared the bejeezus out of me. :D
