Why are you using 32 yr old parts? I rebuilt my petcocks with new parts and I also have good floats and new float needle valves for just in case.

There isn't an "off" position on the standards. You have to get the petcocks right and/or the floats right or you're in a heap of s**t. As for the specials, I would for sure keep the vacuum valve in...

Speedo cable

If you notice the speedo cable has a collar on one end to keep it from going through the outer housing and that end should be just under the speedo to prevent it from falling out should the housing...

I got one I wear all the time that's at least 5 yrs old, but still in good shape. Firm rubber foam for support and not deteriated but I always use a "Do rag" under it to keep the sweat off the foam...
