Scary/tires
I kinda forgot what a nice stock exhaust does to the power curve.
Just thinking of going completely stock and cleaning this fantastic 80 SG to better than it is. (1) Is there a chemical wash for the wheels that's easier/faster than what I've been doing ? What do you guys with the collectors bikes use to get started and then finnish up ? (2) What are the appropriate tires to make stock, is it the Dunlop 404s ?

Hi Done,
Tires were more likely a Bridgestone product originally. I had a set of 404's on my 81H and would describe them as suitable for moderate riding. wear was reasonable for the price. Many have used Bridgestone Spitfire I found that to be a better tire. I used 3M pads (auto body) on my wheels followed by Rouge compound to get a very bright shiny result on the highlights. Brush and detergent on the painted parts. Lots of elbow grease ![]() Phil

Shine protector
After you get the aluminum polished, and there are no magic potions to getting that done other than a lot of work, save the shine by going to a marine dealer and buying a can of Shark Hide.
http://sharkhide.com/ One of it's selling points is that you can reapply it over an existing coat. Just make sure that the coat to be covered is clean. So one shine should last for years. CZ |

stock tires
I guess I was looking for an answer as to what were the stock original equipment tires on a 1980 XS1100SG.
I could put high speed racing tires on but was thinking stock ? Thanks for the tip on Shark Hyde ! Also when putting air in the front forks I've always played around with a compressor until I thought I had them where I wanted and both the same. Is there an easy way to pump them up equal ?
