Recovering My 1980 xs1100 special seat
Anyone have any suggestions on what material to use and the best way to re cover the seat on my 1980 xs1100? Just got it a couple weeks ago and going through and doing some small odds and ends. I am a hands on guy and will be doing everything to this bike myself. Thanks.

Rubberized
vinyl is what my upholsterer. He called it rubberized vinyl. I's cooler when parking in the sunlight is the only option.
I like it and since he retired my new guy is having a sample sent to him. He'll call when it comes in. Don };-)

I recovered a couple of my XS seats a few years back. I went to Joanne's fabrics and got Vinyl, marine grade is best. I used my old seat as a pattern, which was a challenge due to the rips and tears in them. Just take it apart at the seams and lay it out and trace your parts. When fitting it, use a heat gun to get it to stretch/form to the foam. Mine turned out great.
