Fairing repairs and first ride of the year

Howdy, all! Long time no see!

I got a few days home this past weekend, so it was riding time! But... as these things do, my main fairing support bar rusted through.
Some measuring, drilling, and welding later, and shes all back to like-new!
This year also marks the first year that she started and ran clean and smooth from a cold start after the winter!

I figured i should share a happy repair/progress story instead of always asking for help here. Yall have gotten Roxy so far! Thank you all!

Looks like a good repair! If you put a washer under the bolt that is just a bit larger than the square tube, it probably will not break in your lifetime. It looks to me like the bolt squeezed the metal on the flat, and that caused the failure. A washer that will transfer some of the pressure to the edges will also transfer it to the cross part of the tube, and be much stronger.

Yes! The bolt was a bit too short so i have to go out and get a longer one before a washer will fit. Next time I get home, thats at the top of my list.

Good to hear you got out, and nice to see your pics on repair. Its helpful when we get to see what other XS'ers are doing with their bike(s).
