Aint this a B****

You know being a computer guy myself. Why in the hell would you pick our poor little group to pick on. I would have gone after something much larger(if I was into that sort of thing). I hope we can recover from this. There is a life time or two of info on our beloved machines in this site.

Screw it I'm going for a Ride!!!!

Sorry... I knew it was too early to post that...

More simply stated...
the Koran is very similar to the Christian Bible in It's teachings... in other words... be nice, play fair and love God...

Some people do bad things in the name of their "religion". Don't blame the good things because of the bad people.

and finally... Don't blame an entire society because of a few idiots.

I think that covers it... other than, I think this is a great site and it's a shame to see someone do something so messed up to it...

I spent 18 months over in Baharian during the first gulf war and have no complaints we were treated very nicely I agree with your statement about most of the culture being decent people but as with any society there are a few idiots..

As Forest Gump said. "That is all I have to say about that"

Folks, I suggest that until otherwise informed we count this site as closed for 'normal' postings.

At some point a 'real' moderator (who can somehow prove that they are who they say they are) will let us know when normal service has been resumed.

Until given the 'all clear' we should be cautious about anyone's postings, they may not actually be from that person.

Note to any moderators:
If you have all been 'locked out' then email me and I'll post for you.
If you can still post then can you let us know what recovery action is planned.

Brian (and it really is me, honest, I have a first year Midnight Special in the only colour they did them in)

Although I agree with Wildkat, that the entire Muslim community is not responsible for the actions of Islamic terrorists (they are NOT "militants" or "extremists"!) the worshippers of Allah who do not support the killing, maiming and wanton destruction of human life DO bear a serious responsibility that they have currently failed to address. True, peaceful followers of Allah need to publicly, unequivocally denounce the terrorist actions being perpetrated by the few. Why do they not actively and publicly assist in the identification of terrorist factions? Where are the Muslim leaders crying out against the beheading of Nick Berg? Atrocities are being committed in Allah's name. They need to prove to the world that this is not the true face of Islam, and they have not done so. Why?

Let's look on the bright side. If the files are lost, we can go about the business of reposting everything. We'll all have more to talk about.

Peace

One hell of a hack. So someone figuired out a forum main password.

Given some time and no need for a life, I could have done the same thing. But why.

What is also strange is the forum name created does not translate to english so is probably someone with typed in a bunch of english letters and created an arabic language of their own.

Pretty swift if you ask me.

Hacked

Why anyone would bother to hack into this site and screw with it is beyond my comprehension.??????
I agree with Marty, we simply press on. A group like this that spends so much of our time and ingenuity solving the problems and resurrecting 25 year old motorcycles will continue with our problem solving. If one of our beloved XS/XJ's breaks we simply go out to the shop and solve it's problem and push on.
I suggest we just do the same thing with this problem. Shrug our shoulders and go back to work. If some one in the group has the smarts to develop a fire wall or similar program to protect the site good. We just don't give up.
If anyone has a problem with their scooter simply post your problem and I'm sure the suggestions will start to fly in again.
Ignore the Ass H-le what ever his religion or twisted warped mind.
Back to the business of this site. Helping each other.

Hacked

I just went to a language translation site. Here is what our hacker had to say with his posting.

TRANSLATED TEXT:

Well I was wrong about the translation any way. Something about allah is great.

Good for you. I think the g-d of Israel is great. So is Buddah and every other religion that believes in something.

Quoted from trading places, "religion is a good thing when taken in moderation."

What a pain in the butt! I am doubtful this is the work of Islamic extremists - I think it is some punk hacker who thinks this is funny. I guess we just get on with life, and hopefully the site can be protected against such future attacks.

Somebody needs a life. They should get a motorcycle so they could be out enjoying it instead of spending all their time at a computer aggravating people who are just trying to help one another.

All I know is this punk that did this is a piece of crap, one of those guys that can hide behind a computer screed and keyboard, but would never confront any of us face-to-face. I bet this person even lives here, taking advantage of the freedom many of us Vets have fought to keep and have. I would love to meet the person that did this face to face..... I am calling you out.... Where are you?

The forum software on my server logs IP addresses for logins. Just check the login and IP for the account that did that hack and trace it to the ISP. Then call up the ISP and get the users details.

That is unless he was smart enough to first hack into someone elses account to hide his steps.
