It brings tears to my eyes!!

You guys went way beyond what anybody would have expected from a post on an anonymous website. It really shows the kind of heart you have guys. I hope that in my time of need I'm surrounded with folks like you.
Sailor, I hope you get all the enjoyment you need out of the XS before your time comes. Kat, bless you and stay strong.... don't go away when Sailor does, as you can tell we care for you here.

A few more pics from Sailors bike fix

Sorry for the delay on these.
Have a few different pics from the trip to Owl Harbor.
Day 1. Out with the wrong carbs. Had XJ carbs.

Trying to find out what happened to the 12 volts.

This is how day 1 ended...Under the lights..

Day 2. Working on the spark and the fuse block.

A bit of carb stick magic...

DiverRay, 3Phase and Sailor right to left. Going after some fresh gas.

3Phase and Sailor202 on his Kawa twin. Sailor writes notes to communicate.

This looks like it only took a couple hours. DiverRay and 3Phase worked their tails off. It showed when they fired that puppy up.

This thread should stay here as long as this site exists.

That way, whenever any of us are having a bad day and questioning, "Does anyone in this world ever think of anyone but themselves anymore?" we can come back here and see the answer...."Yes, those people do still exist."

Nice job guys.

Best of luck to you Sailor. I hope you can enjoy your ride.

Don

OMG, you guys.....completely selfless....wiping tears from my eyes again!

Something

Sailor, my heart aches for you and yours

3Phase, Latexs, DiverRay....it's already been said, but THANK YOU
but you guys didn't do this for the pats on the back, or anything else....
...wipe...sniff...

I gotta stop before I short out my computer

Just, thanks

Hello everyone,

This is Kat – Sailor’s wife. After talking to DiverRay today I went onto the XS1100.com website and was amazed by the email thread of compassion and best wishes directed our way. What DiverRay, 3Phase and Rodger did for Sailor was incredible – they made his bike whole again.
Visiting your website and reading your forums has made me appreciate how great a motorcycle the XS11 is – I only wish Sailor had found your community earlier before his health started deteriorating , so that he could have gotten his bike properly fixed and running in time for more than one last ride…
Sailor is still alive and did find the strength a week and a half ago to ride his XS11 one last time – He got to race down sr 12 west towards Rio Vista and back again. Although I drove (far) behind in my little Ford Escort, my heart rode right along with him.
After the reality sunk in that he has become too weak to repeat that ride, Sailor has decided to sell his XS11. It’s a tough decision to part with a machine that has been such a well loved component of your life for so long, but it will allow him to make sure that his XS11 gets passed on to someone that will care for it well.
Sailor is asking 1750.00 OB. If you are interested please email me.
Thank you,
Kat

Been following along at home.
Words fail here. Nice job all around.
Sailor is about as tough as that old XS, for sure.

Glad you guys could make his wish come true.

Kat,

Thank you VERY much for the update. It is awesome to know he got his wish and tamed the great beast one more time!! You and Sailor are definitely members of the XS family in my book, and I offer my prayers that he continues to find the strength to make the most of his time here, he is the definition of perseverance.

There is a forum here for bikes for sale, I am sure one of the Moderators may be able to help you get your offer posted there where more folks might see it.

Sailor's death

To all of you that have followed this thread -- thank you for your kind wishes and thoughts --
Sailor died Thursday, February 19th in the early afternoon.
In the last week of his life, the cancer started to attack his brain -- but he successfully kept it at bay until Thursday morning.
Wednesday night he was alert but weak; lying in bed -- but still wanted to keep busy - So I brought him his drill and a water pump that he was drilling out a broken bolt from -- metal shavings and drill bits amongst the sheets - but it didn't matter he was having fun. His last meal was rootbeer icecream -- eaten between bouts of drilling

By Thursday morning, the cancer finally got the best of him -- he was restless and disoriented -- we administered sedatives and painkillers under hospice directive. He quietly stopped breathing around 1PM, lying on the couch in our houseboat.
Many birds flew by as he died -- their wings filling the air. We smudged and prayed to encourage his journey.

Thank you, Kat. I'm glad I got to meet both of you and that Sailor's at peace.

This is difficult to write ...

....

Both of you have been in my prayers and if there is anything you need, just say the word!

Regards,

Scott

Kat,

Words escape me, a rarity some would say.

My deepest sympathy and condolences on the loss of a man that showed what tenacity and inner strength are. That is a fitting finally, and a beautiful scene.

God's blessings to you all in your time of grief, and God's speed to Sailor on his journey.
