Xsne 2019?

Any word on a 2019 rally? If not, I'd love to pitch in, but I have no idea where to even start!

XS East 2019

Hi Jesse!
Yes brief preliminary talks have taken place.
I am not the one this time. A couple of us are taking a big mid-summer trip in 2019 so we need to save funds. Sally and I will probably miss this one but we should be back for 2020!
The person who will likely step up is also likely currently making arrangements. I am sure he will jump in when he has firmed up his plan.

just a reminder to those looking at organizing the 2019 rally.
It is customary to discuss first in a thread such as this one.
Only when a consensus has been reached the actual rally thread is started.
The DATE is always Memorial Week end.
The thread is titled: XS East 2019
The FIRST post contains ALL the location details.
Name of MOTEL with contact Info for Who to speak to.
Telephone # email address. Website.

Please DO NOT pull the trigger until all the ducks are in a row.
Look back over previous years to see how this has been done before.
Scrolling through 14 pages of thread to find out where the damn motel is will discourage participation.

Phil

Echoes . . .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-E7_VHLvkE

Hello . . . hello . . . hello . . .
Is anybody in there ?
Just nod if you can hear me
Is there anyone at home?

Two other '19 rallies, that run later in the year, are sort of "up and running"

Just curious if there is any plans in the works for XS East ?

C'mon back . . . Over

XSEast 2019

Iíd like to propose Northern Vermont for a change of venue and pace. On my ride to Cape Breton last August I returned through St Johnsbury and thought this is some beautiful country that Iíd like to explore. I can only reach St Johnsbury after a very long day. I donít know if we should do Brattleboro again, (I passed by the motel we stayed at, outbound), locks us into less exciting rides.
Iím considering Ludlow as a base, near Okemo. Looks like a small town with some resources. Iíve made reservations at the Best Western Ludlow Colonial Motel at $95 a night but their reviews are across the board. Their suspense, 31 MAR 2019. I can firm these up if we decide to buy in on this. There are restaurants within walking distance, so they say.
Iíve done some preliminary mapping of routes, with loops into NH, NY and even northern ME, looks like a whole lot of nothing up in ME. I can put together what I think are interesting rides but it wonít be the hard riding weíve done in previous years, more of sightseeing rides. Without Marty as ride captain, it may be a little more impromptu.
I donít know what the tourists are like, someone from Richmond VT said thereís not too may. Again, eyes on the ground would be great to have.
I know our numbers have been coming down, but this event I look forward to every year.
And I still have problems logging on to the site.

Darrell, a little bit of info. for ideas.
All the Green Mt gaps are a little further north.

A real good riding site:
http://www.newenglandriders.org/Best...es/Vermont.htm
http://www.newenglandriders.org/Best...TBestRoads.htm

- 17 Appalachian Gap Mad river Glenn
- 108 Smugglers Notch
- 125 Middlebury Gap Bread Loaf mnt
- Lincoln Gap some dirt
- 112 Kankamagus Highway
- 114
- 73 Brandon Gap

I stayed here once. It was ok and really central to good riding:

Also here, but further north:

Hi Darrell,
I like this idea. Needs a bit more fleshing out.

Dean,

I like the Hollow Inn locale, gave them a call to set up reservations. I asked for rooms on the motel side. They have a continental breakfast but no dinner, dinner will be on the town somewhere.

They said they're getting a dusting of snow. It's close to a 600 mile ride for me. But with my Seth Lamm seat its no longer painful. (Go to the website and I believe my seat is the first one in the scroll.)

I'll look at your other links to consider routes. Probably one to the east and one to the NNW. Rides may not be as long as those in WV/VA.

Well I'm assuming this is still up for debate so here's my 2 cents. Looks like a beautiful area for a rally. I really enjoyed the Brattleboro rally and really wanted to get back there some day especially to Woodstock. Going that far north would require a 3 day ride for me so I would have to pass on the proposed rally site.
