I put the old girl to bed. Was 43* out, so I did the ATGATT thing with my brand new hi-vis yellow helmet and had a nice run. When I got home, I put in the startron additive and covered her up in her blankie. This was only the 2nd ride of the year due to circumstances beyond my control. More riding next year for sure.

Red face shim

I did a valve adjustment a few months ago and had a pronounced clicking on the right side. I figured I did a boo-boo but wasn't too concerned. I took it apart Saturday and found that I probably applied the exhaust specs to the #4 intake and had a .265 shim installed when I should have had a .275. Got the right one in and it now has just the right amount of noise. The last time I did the valves, I had the cams out, so I didn't need to use the shim tool. It has been a few years since I had used the tool and forgot that the valve needs to be depressed by the cam beforeinstalling the tool. I sat there for 30 minutes trying to figure out what I was doing wrong before breaking down and looking in my manual.

Grumble, grumble...

I kicked it as I briskly walked past it while thinking about the top end rebuild I'm going to have to perform because I'm an idiot who can't read instructions.

What happened, valves, piston, rings ?

Did you end up leaving the middle drive in, reinstalling the bolts and servicing the oil through the drain plug ?

Greg, I wish I could have gone for a ride today. Too much snow on the road...

Led

Recently finished total bike LED conversion. Not a single incandescent bulb left on the bike. Even the instrument bulbs are LED. Used member Ted's "magic" LED flasher that allows use of LED bulbs while retaining auto-cancel feature. Test rode bike and all went well. Auto cancel worked flawlessly. My alternator and battery were smiling the whole time. No more light dimming or slowing t/sig flash at idle. All LED bulbs were obtained from Superbrightleds.com.

Nice! So did you need load resistors?

Flasher

Replaced OEM flasher with Ted's flasher. Was a plug and play deal. Not sure how it works, but it works. Did not have to add resistors, just plugged it in.

Yeah it's a pretty blue, but just because you're old is no excuse to buy a bagger. Fortunately I have wrenches.

Can't find Ted on here. He sells flashers?

Flasher

Contact member ELDR (Ted) about his flasher unit. Allows conversion of t/sig bulbs to LED and retains auto-cancel feature.

When you change to LED bulbs, you must also change flasher to LED type. Standard LED flasher does not retain auto-cancel. Ted's will.

If your bike has factory emergency signals, you must change out that flasher with an LED flasher too.

When purchasing LED bulbs, you must match bulb color to lens color.
