General Information

about the
XS-XJ Eleven Owners Association

The XS-XJ Eleven Owners Association could be described as an organization with no organization. Basically, were a bunch of people who own either Yamaha XS1100 or XJ1100 motorcycles. You can learn more about the group by reading the What is the XS-XJ Eleven Owners Association? FAQ page.

In fact, there are several pages devoted to providing useful information. To start with, there are the FAQ pages to answer those Frequently Asked Questions. There are also a collection of Tech Tips. There are things in there you never knew you wanted to know! :-)

Getting answers to questions about your XS-XJ 1100 motorcycle

You'll also probably want to join the mail list for lots of good technical tips on maintaining your bike and for the fellowship found there. Be warned, though. It's a rather busy list. If the thought of 30 or more emails a day gives you goosebumps, you may want to subscribe to the digest of the list. The digest takes all of the messages posted during the previous 24 hours and posts them all into one to three (long) email(s). If your ISP only allows you a certain number of emails in your in-box (perhaps AOL?) then you should only use the digest. You obviously won't get up-to-the-minute response like the "regular" list but you'll still get all the good stuff.

Note: joining the e-mail mailing list does not automatically add you to the web page and vice versa. The two are independent and managed by different people.

If you have a problem with getting email from the list, describe your problem privately to the list administrator, JP Honeywell envelope. Don't bother complaining on the list. Only the list administrator can address your concerns.

If you'd like your name and motorcycle (XS11 or XJ11 only) listed on the owners page, there will soon be a form you can fill out to add your information instantly.

If you want a more extensive "owner's page," well, I'm trying to find a way to automate that too. I'm hoping to have a form that will get information from you and automatically "build" a webpage for you. Or, you could do it the old fashioned way - you can build one yourself and send me the URL, and I'll link to your page. Digitized pictures of your bike (preferrably in JPEG format) are always a nice addition. If you're not too scary looking, maybe even a picture of you too. :-) Images that are digitally enlarged look crummy. Photos should be scanned at a resolution that provides a 630 pixel wide image. Larger than that is okay - I can always reduce it while keeping the same image quality, but smaller than 630 pixels wide can be a problem.

Email them to me privately at webmaster@xs11.com envelope. Or you can post them in the Shared Files area on http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xs11 (once you've joined the Mail List).

Ordering an XS-XJ Eleven Owners Association patch or keytag

Instructions for ordering goodies like patches, keytags and whatever else I think up can be found on the Goodies page. Remember, this is not a business for me. I usually buy a small extra supply (whatever I can afford) of patches, keytags, etc. out of my own pocket in the hopes that sometime I will get reimbursed. Please don't give me grief if I'm out of something you want and there's not enough demand to reorder. :-)
