The Great Keytag Project
Well, if you've been on the mailing list or seen the pictures of my bike then you know that I'm not the type to leave well enough alone. So I've been playing around with the the idea of another "goodie" for XS11 owners - aka XS Eleven Owners Association Vice Presidents.
Here's what I've come up with - Key tags. But it's not just a key tag. It's much, much more! It slices, it dices, it - okay, it doesn't slice and dice but it also makes a great zipper pull. Stick one on that big winter parka and voila! Instant fashion. Put one on your tank bag or soft briefcase and you've got an easy way to open and close (and tell which is which) those pesky zippers. You could also do the same for your soft saddlebags. The tag flapping in the breeze might even make your bike more conspicuous to those brain dead cagers. Hey, it could happen. :-)
I got the idea when I went out to Sturgis in 1997. I test rode a Kawasaki and all of them had keytags made from embroidered patches. "Kool," I thought. Finally a keytag that won't beat up your triple clamp. At least as long as it's only got your ignition key on it. ;-)
Well, after playing around with some designs and talking to the company that made the "Official patches," I came down to a few sample ideas. I ran these designs by the other owners and what I came up with is shown below. We didn't have enough interest to have one design for the Standard owners and one for the Special owners. There was more than enough interest in the Special design but it wasn't even close for the Standard design. READ THIS: The keytag has the Standard design on one side and the Special design on the other.
And now they're finally here. The price is $8.25 each.
The patch part is 1.9" x 2.75" with a split ring for your key(s).

The quantity of extra keytags I order (that is keytags that are not pre-ordered/pre-paid) will not be exceptionally large. I'm all for being nice to the next generation of newbies to the group but my philanthropy must have reasonable limits. :-( So if you want one (or more) of these keytags, don't delay.
