Batteries

I found out last year that, while most all dealers will tell you that there are no maintenance free batteries made for the XS, there is a maintenance-free battery made for the Goldwing. The size and specs. are identical.

I purchased the battery last year from a dealer who sells Hondas. The battery is a "Motosport Battery" manufactured by American Honda Motor Co., Inc. The part number is: GTX18L-BS. It's a little pricey (I paid $60.00 on sale).

I live in a very hot climate and batteries 1) don't last long from the heat; 2) use water quickly. Since it's such a pain to pull the battery for reqular maintenance, I was happy to come across a knowledgable counter-man who knew that the Goldwing maintenance free battery would fit the XS. He told me that he's had one in his Goldwing for 3+ years. If I can get 3 years from a battery, it's well-worth the extra price (I only get 2 years out of my car battery!).
